Hello

Today it's a whiteboard pen. I'd love to say that the pics are going to get more exciting but in all honesty, they're probably not. I have a love of drawing dull inanimate objects. And a love of whiteboard pens. They're squeaky.

Anyway, good day today. Was really struggling with getting the novel synopsis down from 2000 words to 500 when I read something on the internet which said "do the elevator pitch. Imagine you have only sixty seconds to outline your story to an important stranger."

Now, I've heard this before, but reading it again worked some magic. I started writing, imagining I was telling a friend about my book, and now what i have is the bare bones of the story, no extra unnecessary detail and a good chunk of text to work with. And a headache, but them's the breaks.

More coffee and a further edit and I should be done. Tomorrow, I'm looking at the chapters. eek.

Show, don't tell

Hello

After half a day trying to cram my 125000 word novel into 500 words, I frankly cannot be faffed trying to cram my half a day into a blog post. Instead, I have drawn you a picture of my mobile phone, shortly to be my old mobile phone just as soon as the nice man from Orange delivers the new one. Waiting in all day for him. Annnytime you like, nice mr orange man.

Anyway, there it is. I also drew an empty hanging basket which might have been a nice metaphor for my current mental state, except that I've lost the scanned pic. That might also be a nice metaphor for...etc.

Bye
